Over the course of last month, our Chairman & Co-Founder, Duc Luu, along with partners and friends, have joined hands in the COVID-19 relief efforts by donating a total of 12 tons of rice to organizations and local units all across Ho Chi Minh City.

Overseas Vietnamese donate 12 tons of rice to people in difficult circumstances

(Thanhuytphcm.vn) — On August 17th, Australian expatriate Justin Bui (Bui Trung Hau), President of Realms Company, Financial Fund, and Real Estate Investment, connected and encouraged benefactors through the Overseas Vietnamese Committee in Ho Chi Minh City to donate rice bags to local units in the city to contribute in alleviating the people of Ho Chi Minh City in the ongoing effort to prevent and control the pandemic.
Mr. Justin Bui connected Mr. Matt Young, General Manager Group GSA Vietnam (GSASTUDIO Co., Ltd) to support the Vietnam Fatherland Forefront Committee of Thu Duc City with 5 tons of rice. He has also helped to connect husband and wife Luu Ngoc Duc and Nguyen Thi Thu Ngan, American expatriates to support the Office of the People’s Committee of Thu Duc City 2 tons of rice and the Gracious Kitchen in Binh Trung Dong Ward, Thu Duc City 1 ton of rice. In addition, Mr. Justin HT Bui and a group of friends currently residing in Japan, the United States, Australia: Mr. Yusuke Gunji, Mr. Vu Do, Mr. Nguyen Huy Quang, Mr. Ong Mai Nguyen, Mr. Pham Thanh Ta to support the Vietnam Fatherland Forefront Committee of District 8, 4 tons of rice.
Throughout recent events, the overseas Vietnamese community including organizations and individuals: businesses, intellectuals, experts in different fields, Vietnamese associations worldwide,… have lent in their support of various forms and ways, both material and spiritual to help the people, help Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country to quickly overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, returning to a peaceful life.

In response to the “Open letter asking the respective Vietnamese overseas community and Vietnamese expatriates to join hands with Ho Chi Minh City in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic” of the Chairman of the Committee on Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City, as children of Ho Chi Minh City living afar but still wishes to contribute to the homeland.

“The past two years for my family have been relatively long because we couldn’t fly back to Australia to visit our parents. Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, flights from Vietnam to other countries have been temporarily suspended. My family has accepted to send love and regards to our parents via phone calls. In the light of the difficult situation the city is facing, I rallied my friends from all over the world to gravitate towards our homeland, our country even with just the smallest deeds. A couple of months ago, I donated 20 million VNĐ for the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund of Ho Chi Minh City, and most recently, I gave 10,000 N95 face masks to the Police force of Thu Duc City to support our officers and troops in the ongoing COVID-19 control and prevention in quarantine, blockade areas and field hospitals all across the city. I hope that the rice bags can somewhat support our people and I hope we can soon return to our happy and safe life,” Mr. Justin Bui (Bui Trung Hau), Australian expatriate, Chairman of Realms Co., Ltd shared.
For Mr. Luu Ngoc Duc, the American expatriate who came from a POV Edtech, Proptech, and Marketplace, in the last two years, as the Chief Strategy Officer to review the M&A and incubation opportunities of Edtech all around the world, Mr. Duc returned to his hometown of Vietnam to expand the business and contribute to the country. He built an Edtech startup in Hong Kong, sold it to Bain Capital Private Equity China, and then listed the parent company on Nasdaq in 2017 for over $1 billion.
Mr. Duc confided: “This is my first time participating in volunteering activities in the city, I am very grateful to my friend Justin Bui for introducing me to the Committee on Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City and for informing me of these meaningful activities. In the near future, I will inform my friends in the US and participate in more activities to support people in need during the covid-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City.”
It can be said that in this 4th wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, in the light of the critical and complicated situation, the number of infectious cases is increasing in the thousands.
